Act of Kindness after our devastating house fire! - Sandy H

There are no words to describe the act of kindness that I experienced from the W&L Subaru service department. On January 28th my husband and I lost everything in a house fire, escaping with only the clothes on our back. We also lost our beloved dog, Pepper in the devastating fire. I had scheduled service and new tire installation for my 2022 Forester Sport, but needed to reschedule due to losing the key fobs in the house fire. The service department was accommodating with rescheduling. After receiving a text that my vehicle was ready for pick up, my daughter and I entered the service department with checkbook in hand. We were greeted by the service staff and was shown the invoice with a balance due of zero dollars. Service stated they covered all the service charges. I explained I had four new tires installed at which point they stated,”we know, this is our way of helping after everything you have been through.” I was overwhelmed by the act of kindness, BUT it didn’t stop there. I was presented with a check and gift cards. W&L Subaru is not just a car dealership, they are people that truly CARE! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Sandy Hollenbach

Keeping Kids Warm in the Susquehanna Valley! - Rachel R

Through the generosity of W&L Subaru and Operation Warm, Union-Snyder Community Action Agency (CAA) distributed coats and shoes to over 150 children across the Susquehanna Valley area. On the day of our Operation Warm event, the staff of CAA and W&L Subaru teamed up to serve 44 children and their families, providing an afternoon of activities, refreshments, local assistance information, along with brand new coats and shoes for every child. In the weeks following the event, the remaining clothing items were distributed to over 100 additional children throughout the area. We couldn't imagine a better partnership and we're so grateful for the commitment W&L has shown to our community. A kind action can change the course of someone's day, year, life. We're honored to take part in this annual act of kindness toward our neighbors in the Valley, bringing not only warmth to those in need, but an afternoon of joy, too.

Test Drives for Down Syndrome Month! - Stephen H

October is Down Syndrome Awareness month. W & L went above and beyond to offer $10 dollars for every test drive in October to the Down Syndrome Society of the Susquehanna Valley. Their donation goes a long way in helping us celebrate our Down Syndrome loved ones in the Susquehanna Valley. We have an annual Buddy Walk, trips to local attractions, and a Christmas party. We also use the funds to help our families when they have a loved one in the hospital, or need some extra support. The Down Syndrome Society of the Susquehanna Valley is a 501-c-3 and all money stays in the local area to support our families. Our goal is to promote Down Syndrome Awareness, celebrate milestones, and push for inclusion for everyone. We always say that we are more alike than we are different and if you give one of our ambassadors 20 minutes, you will have a friend for life and you will become a fierce advocate for them. Down Syndrome has taught me that we all need to slow down and take the time to enjoy the moments we have together. If everyone could see life through the eyes of a Down Syndrome lens, the world would be a much better place. On behalf of the DSSSV I would like to thank W & L Subaru for their outstanding community outreach, compassion for our local area, and unwavering support for causes that everyone can get behind.

Subaru Retailers Team Up to Support Hurricane Relief Efforts! - Jess M

At W & L Subaru, we’re always ready to step up and support our communities, especially in times of crisis. This commitment is at the heart of the Subaru Love Promise®. When Hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated the Eastern region, Subaru retailers like us immediately sprang into action. Alongside other Subaru retailers, Subaru of America, and local organizations, we assessed the most urgent needs in the affected areas. It quickly became clear that local food banks were struggling to keep up with the surge in demand as they worked to support people hit hardest by the storms. In response, we teamed up with 67 Subaru retailers across the region to launch a $400,000 match campaign to aid the hurricane relief efforts of Feeding America®. W & L Subaru proudly contributed $10000 to this initiative. While the immediate impact of the storms fades from the headlines, many of our neighbors continue to face long-term challenges like food insecurity, water shortages, power outages, and limited access to essential services. Thanks to the collective generosity of Subaru retailers and the communities we serve, an additional $18,427 was raised. This brings the total impact to $418,427, or over 4,100,000 meals for those in need. "As one of the nation's largest disaster relief organizations, the Feeding America network of food banks and partner agencies is deeply rooted in communities across the country. Together, our partnership with trusted Subaru dealers has helped expedite emergency food assistance and supplies to people who need it most. We are immensely grateful," said Feeding America Chief Development Officer Casey Marsh.

A Very W&L Christmas! - Bryce K

It was a typical Thursday at W&L Subaru; a flurry of service appointments was in the books. The December air was crisp and filled with the promise of the holiday season. A customer arrived at the dealership to check in for her routine maintenance visit for her vehicle. Pete Picciurro, a seasoned service advisor, greeted her warmly and began the check-in process. Making small talk throughout the process, he asked what many people ask in December, “So, are you all ready for Christmas?” As she began to reply, a somber tone crept into her voice and her eyes welled up with tears. She shared her heart-wrenching story, recalling the loss of her father around the previous Christmas and now the added stress of a recent divorce. As she continued her conversation, presenting brief glimpses of her situation, she revealed a simple yet poignant detail. “I don’t even have a Christmas tree,” she tearfully shared. Touched by her vulnerability, Pete approached Roy Beck, W&L Subaru service manager, with his customer’s story, and the two of them knew they could help. In a true W&L Subaru style, they leapt into action and decided to offer some holiday cheer. With a warm smile, they offered her one of the dealership's Christmas trees as a gift to lift her spirits and bring holiday cheer to her home. Overwhelmed with gratitude, the young woman watched as Pete disassembled the tree and carefully loaded it into her car. A simple act of kindness had brightened her holiday season and brought with it a sense of warmth and hope. The W&L Subaru team had not only serviced her car but had also mended a piece of her heart.
